The OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine in co-operation with USAID’s “Fair Justice” Project concluded a two-day forum on 28 October 2015, which brought together public officials, representatives of civil society and the judiciary, and international experts to share best practices and lessons learned in promoting civil society’s engagement in justice sector reform.
The “Justice and Сivil Society Forum” aimed at providing a platform for building a partnership between civil society and justice sector stakeholders to promote public trust and confidence in the judiciary.
Participants discussed success stories in building an effective dialogue between justice sector institutions and civil society organizations, and highlighted the current challenges and future opportunities.
The Forum also provided a platform for representatives of civil society organizations that are active in the justice sector reform to network with each other, and a set of recommendations for promoting civil society engagement in judicial reform was developed.
The event was supported within the “Safeguarding Human Rights through Courts” Project, which is being implemented by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine with the financial support of the Government of Canada.
