About
Applications are now open for the 2025 OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security training programme on conflict prevention and resolution!
Are you interested in politico-military aspects of security? Would you like to put your negotiation skills into practice? Would you like to learn more about conflict prevention tools in the OSCE area?
We are looking for young professionals and students who have leadership potential, a passion for conflict prevention and resolution, and a demonstrated interest in arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.
What is the OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security?
The OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security is a training programme that seeks to empower young professionals and engage them in the security sector. Through online and in-person activities, the Scholarship seeks to foster young professionals’ interest in and knowledge of politico-military security issues, conflict prevention and resolution, arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, with a focus on the OSCE area. The Scholarship aims to support young professionals in developing their professional network and career development opportunities.
What does the programme look like in practice?
Online course: Selected participants will take a 6-weeks online course, hosted at the OSCE E-Learning Platform, on conflict prevention and resolution, arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation in the OSCE region. The online course addresses issues such as confidence- and security-building measures; the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and conventional weapons and ammunition; the prevention and countering of terrorism and violent extremism; and other emerging peace and security issues.
The online course will take place from 7 April to 18 May 2025 and is designed not to clash with full/part-time studies and/or work commitments.
In-person event: Selected participants who successfully graduate from the online course will be invited to an in-person event, which is envisaged to take place in Vienna in Autumn 2025. The in-person event includes a negotiation and mediation workshop, briefings by representatives of the international organizations in Vienna, and discussions with experts and study visits.
Costs: participation in the OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security is free of charge. Costs for the in-person event will be covered by the Organization.
Interested in applying? Eligibility Criteria are the following:
➡️ You are a young professional between 22-32 years of age (at the time of application)
➡️ You hold at least a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)
➡️ You are a national of one of the OSCE participating States or Partners for Co-operation.
Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply!
