The booklet on the OSCE Mediterranean Partnership now available in French and Arabic
Arabic and French versions of the booklet on The OSCE Mediterranean Partnership for Co-operation: A Compilation of Relevant Documents and Information, issued in December 2014 to mark the 20th anniversary of the Contact Group with the Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation, were presented on 19 November 2015 in Vienna.
This presentation took place on the occasion of this year’s last meeting of the Mediterranean Contact Group under the German Chairmanship.
The translation in Arabic has been supported by the Permanent Mission of Germany, and the translation in French by the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Belgium and the Permanent Mission of the Principality of Monaco.
The booklet contains an in-depth overview of the relationship between the OSCE and its Mediterranean Partners. It is intended to provide a useful tool for strengthening the endeavour of further enhancing Mediterranean Partnership for Co-operation.
It features all relevant historical documents, a table of current and past projects with the Mediterranean Partners and a compilation of key findings originating from relevant OSCE events that have taken place since the Vilnius Ministerial Council in 2011 to 2014.
Attention is also given to the role of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in fostering OSCE-Mediterranean dialogue, and to the New-Med Track II Network launched in Rome on 18 September 2014.
A selection of OSCE publications of interest to the Mediterranean Partners is also highlighted in this publication. The brochure concludes with comments on to the Helsinki+40 Process.
The Mediterranean Contact Group, operating as an informal subsidiary body of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna, was created in December 1994 at the CSCE Summit in Budapest, where it was decided to intensify the dialogue with the five non-participating Mediterranean States, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Morocco and Tunisia and later Jordan in 1998.
