Bosnia and Herzegovina appoints its members to the OSCE Court of Conciliation and Arbitration

The government of Bosnia and Herzegovina has appointed its arbitrator and alternate arbitrator to the OSCE Court of Conciliation and Arbitration (CCA) for a new mandate of six years, in accordance with Article 4 of the Convention on Conciliation and Arbitration within the OSCE.

Neven Anđjelić has been appointed as arbitrator. He is currently the Course Leader for the BA (Hons) in International Relations at Regent’s University London, where he has held several positions as lecturer, senior lecturer and assistant professor in international relations and human rights. From 2014 to 2018 he also served on the Council of Europe’s Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities. Anđjelić frequently provides expert counsel to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, UNICEF, the Council of Europe and several other national and international organizations and agencies.

The alternate arbitrator is Ðemila Gabriel, who holds a dual Bosnian and Australian citizenship. She holds a double degree in Government and International Relations and Criminology and Justice from the Griffith University, Australia. Ðemila Gabriel is an entrepreneur, property developer and diplomat. She supports many philanthropic endeavours and heads several charities, particularly those supporting the Bosnian community in Australia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is also an advisor and a member of the New South Wales (NSW) Police Commissioner’s Multicultural Advisory Council. 

The CCA within the OSCE offers conciliation and arbitration procedures to States Parties and, upon agreement, to OSCE participating States, to settle their disputes by peaceful means. Currently, 34 States are party to the Convention on Conciliation and Arbitration within the OSCE. The CCA acts as an independent body and is headquartered in Geneva.
