Sustainable transport and energy theme of photo contest launched by OSCE and Lithuanian Chairmanship
VIENNA, 6 June 2011 – The OSCE and its Lithuanian Chairmanship today launched a photo competition to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable transport and energy.
The contest is organized in connection to the annual OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum that this year focuses on promoting sustainable energy and transport. The final Forum meeting will be held from 14 to 16 September in Prague.
True security requires not only the absence of a military threat – it also requires a safe environment, sufficient economic opportunities and the respect for human rights. Finding environment-friendly ways to produce energy and ensure sustainable transport is crucial to safeguard our future.
Photographers, both professional and amateur, residing in the OSCE area, including in the Partner for Co-operation states, are invited to submit photos illustrating the importance of sustainable transport and energy before 31 July. Complete contest rules and entry forms are available on: //www.osce.org/eea/photo2011
An international jury will select finalists and two winners; the 3rd prize winner will be selected by online voting.
The 1st prize winner will be invited to travel to Prague for the award ceremony on the margins of the Economic and Environmental Forum on 14-16 September 2011 and will receive a prize comprising photographic equipment. Travel, visa and accommodation costs will be covered by the contest organizers.
The 2nd and 3rd prize winners will also be awarded photographic equipment.
A selection of 12 photographs by finalists and winners will be exhibited on the sidelines of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum in Prague.
