OSCE Chairperson-in-Office welcomes results of meeting between leaders of Chisinau and Tiraspol

NEW YORK, 24 September 2013 – OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara welcomed today the extension of the protocol decision on resumption of a full-scale freight railway service through Transdniestria. The relevant agreement was signed at the meeting of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Iurie Leanca and the Transdniestrian leader Yevgeniy Shevchuk in Tiraspol on 23 September.
“Signing this document the sides demonstrated a constructive approach, aimed at solving issues of mutual interest that are important for the population on both banks of the Dniester/Nistru,” Kozhara said.
The OSCE Chair expressed his hope for further progress in the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol, as well as for adoption of further documents on the freedom of movement and on solutions for socio-economic, humanitarian and security problems aimed at strengthening of trust, peace and stability in the region.
Minister Kozhara is now on a visit to New York for participating at the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
