OSCE Project Co-ordinator and EU support public discussion of electoral reform in Ukraine
A nation-wide campaign to discuss election legislation reform in Ukraine was launched on 23 October 2011 with support from a project funded by the European Union and carried out by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine (PCU).
The overall goal of the project is to assist the country in further strengthening its election processes.
The campaign to discuss the reform will be carried out by a consortium of four non-governmental organizations specializing on election topics in Ukraine: Ukrainian Independent Centre for Political Research, Agency for Legislative Initiatives, Civic Network OPORA and the Committee of Voters of Ukraine.
Representatives of these organizations will conduct public hearings, expert surveys and focus groups in all regions of the country. The consortium will then develop recommendations reflecting the views of the public on how to enhance election legislation reform in Ukraine.
In addition to the campaign, a multi-media Ukrainian language web-portal www.electioninfo.org.ua covering electoral reform process in the country is supported under the project.
