OSCE Secretary General visits Madrid

OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier visited Madrid for consultations on 7 April 2014. He held separate talks with the Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo and Spanish members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, where he discussed challenges in the OSCE region.
The discussions touched upon various issues, including the situation in Ukraine. The talks with Minister Garcia-Margallo also focused on the OSCE’s engagement with its Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation in North Africa and the Middle East.
The Secretary General later participated in a roundtable discussion organized by the Madrid-based think tank FRIDE on "An OSCE for the 21 Century". The event brought together experts from academia, thinks tanks and policy-makers from different ministries to examine and assess efforts to adapt the Organization to new security challenges.
