This project has been specifically designed for young diplomats and experts from OSCE Partners for Co-operation who are not eligible for the OSCE Junior Professional Officer programme so they have an alternative way to gain an insight into the OSCE's mandate and work.
Six participants from both OSCE Asian and Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation had the opportunity to spend two weeks with the OSCE in Vienna to participate in OSCE meetings and events. The study visit included several briefings regarding the history and structure of the OSCE as well as the Organization’s activities on conflict resolution, external co-operation, gender equality, youth, transnational threats and combating human trafficking.
The selected participants for 2025 were from Australia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Thailand and the Republic of Korea.
During their visit, the participants also met with representatives of several OSCE Institutions including the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (Vienna office), the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media (RFoM) as well as with representatives from OSCE participating States, including an exchange with the Finnish Chairpersonship.
A particular highlight of the 2025 programme was the group’s participation in the opening session as well as thematic discussions and side-events at OSCE Warsaw Human Dimension Conference, an event dedicated to human rights and fundamental freedoms across the OSCE area.
As part of the two-week programme, an exchange of ideas titled Youth & Diplomacy in Action was held for the first time with international students from the Diplomatische Akademie Wien on the role of the OSCE and youth engagement in diplomacy.
The next Study Visit will take place in September 2026. The call for applications will be shared with the delegations of OSCE Partners for Co-operation in Vienna.
The OSCE Partners for Co-operation are Afghanistan, Algeria, Australia, Egypt, Israel, Japan, Jordan, the Republic of Korea, Morocco, Thailand and Tunisia.
