OSCE youth project launched in Tbilisi
Sixty-two young prospective leaders mainly from Georgia gathered at the Ministry for Sports and Youth Affairs in Tbilisi for the launch of the OSCE project "Building an OSCE Youth Network in Georgia" on Friday 13 June 2014.
The project, which aims to promote dialogue between the OSCE and Georgian civil society, in particular youth, is being conducted by the OSCE’s Conflict Prevention Centre in partnership with the Helsinki Citizen’s Assembly - Georgian National Committee (hCa GNC).
The participants were welcomed by Levan Kipiani, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia, who hosted the event, and Swiss Ambassador to Georgia Guenther Baechler. Youth is a priority of the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship.
They learned about the hCa GNC’s civil society engagement and were introduced to the basic principles, history and work of the OSCE.
This was the first of 15 meetings in which the young people will explore OSCE-relevant topics and discuss security threats and solutions, culminating in a simulation of a Permanent Council session in December 2014.
