OSCE and INTERPOL to collaborate on police training activities

An agreement between the OSCE and INTERPOL was signed on 27 May 2014 with the aim of further enhancing collaboration between the two organizations in the area of law enforcement training.
Signed by OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier and INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble, the Memorandum of Understanding provides a framework for increased co-operation and the sharing of resources for police training and capacity-building activities.
The OSCE and INTERPOL will work closely to exchange information related to best practices in law enforcement training, and each organization will allow the other to access their online training portals – the INTERPOL Global Learning Centre and the OSCE Policing Online Information System (POLIS).
In addition, the agreement encourages the OSCE and INTERPOL to organize joint training courses, seminars and conferences to enhance ongoing initiatives to combat transnational crime, and to work together to develop law enforcement training materials and tools.
The agreement will strengthen INTERPOL’s ongoing partnership with OSCE, which is particularly active in the areas of human trafficking, border management and expanding access to INTERPOL’s criminal databases.
