The OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine invites journalists and bloggers to participate in the press tour to give insight into the principles and procedures of humanitarian demining on the examples of conflict-affected areas. In addition, the participants will have a chance to communicate with international and national mine action experts, raise awareness of international best practices and local initiatives, see practical works aimed at reducing risks of explosive hazards for people.
The tour’s programme includes:
- familiarization with organizational and implementation principles and approaches of large-scale mine action programmes for conflict-affected areas based on international experience;
- discussion of challenges and current state of humanitarian mine action system development in Ukraine;
- explosive ordnance risk education, role of media and journalism;
- journalism specifics in mine action field;
- date collection methods and sources of information to cover humanitarian demining issues
The press tour includes visits to mine action operators’ premises and sites where demining works take place. The participants will be able to interview international and national experts and get advice on preparation of materials in the field of mine action.
To apply for the press tour you are kindly requested to fill in the application form using the link before 18 May 2020. Only successful candidates will receive the confirmation of acceptance from the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine.
Preference will be given to journalists and bloggers who provide examples of a good quality publications mine action or related field.

The press tour is organized within the project “Building Ukrainian Humanitarian Mine Action Capacity”, implemented by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada, Federal Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of Norway, the Government of Slovakia, the United States Mission to the OSCE, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
