During the training of trainers, Laura Müller from the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre will present the OSCE Code of Conduct on Politico-Military Aspects of Security as well as Jonna Naumanen from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will present the OSCE Handbook on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of Armed Forces Personnel. The guidebook "Most Important Rights and Freedoms of Military Personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces", which has been developed this year, will also be presented to the audience and discussed in order to receive feedback and incorporate it into the final version of the document before it is printed and distributed among the officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
While the major focus of the event will be on rights of military personnel, two other following key areas of democratic control of armed forces will be also covered: equal rights and opportunities for women and men in the armed forces, as well as interaction between armed forces and civil society.
This project “Strengthening Democratic Control of Ukrainian Armed Forces” is implemented in partnership with the DCAF Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance.
