The OSCE and the OECD held a two-day "Seminar on the Framework for Private Sector Development, Industrial Co-operation and Direct Investment in the CIS Countries" in the Belarussian capital of Minsk.
The meeting aimed to increase awareness of the problems confronting many of the newly-independent States in their efforts to achieve sustainable economic development. Participants stressed that sharing experiences in reforming the regulatory framework for promoting the private sector and entrepreneurship should be followed up within the OSCE.
The seminar was divided into four working sessions on the following topics:
- Macroeconomic framework: expectations and reality
- Monetary aspects and fiscal environment
- Public administration principles of corporate behaviour and small- and medium-sized enterprises
- Regulatory framework for investors
