OSCE holds workshop on effective communication for women in law enforcement and border agencies in Central Asia

The OSCE’s Transnational Threats Department, Gender Issues Programme, and Conflict Prevention Centre organized an online workshop on effective communication for members of the Regional Network of Women in Law Enforcement and Border Agencies in Central Asia. 

The workshop aimed to strengthen leadership skills of women in the security sector, focusing on the role of effective communication. Participants were introduced to techniques for structuring speech, managing intonation and highlighting key messages to ensure clarity and credibility in professional interactions. 

The session also addressed different communication styles, and featured video-based analysis, allowing participants to reflect on non-verbal communication, including posture, gestures and facial expressions, and to better understand the meta-messages conveyed alongside spoken content.

The workshop was a part of the OSCE’s ongoing efforts to support the professional development and networking of women in law enforcement and border security across Central Asia under the Transnational Threats Department programme as well as OSCE extrabudgetary projects “WIN for Women and Men” and “Support, Capacity-Building and Awareness-Raising for Security Sector Governance and Reform within the OSCE: Phase III".
