Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has been an OSCE participating State since 1992, following its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The country has hosted an OSCE field operation since 1998. Kazakhstan held the OSCE Chairpersonship in 2010, during which it hosted the Astana Summit. It is represented by a Permanent Delegation to the OSCE and to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

Every year, the political leadership of the OSCE rotates among the Organization's participating States. The country taking over the OSCE Chair co-ordinates activities and provides political direction throughout that year.
