The OSCE Support Programme for Ukraine and the Supreme Court with the support of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine and the All-Ukrainian Association of International Law announce the call for participants for the Fourth International Law Summer Academy, which will take place on 6–11 July 2026 in Zakarpattia region.
This year’s Summer Academy is dedicated to the fundamental issues of the theory and practice of international justice (international courts, arbitration, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Court of Human Rights), international human rights protection, international criminal law, international investment law, and the interaction between international and European law with national law.
Prominent experts in international law, European law, legal theory and philosophy will be invited to deliver lectures and presentations as part of the Academy, including judges of the Supreme Court, the European Court of Human Rights, experts from international organizations, prominent local and international scholars and legal practitioners.
Up to 30 participants (young lecturers, postgraduate students, students of higher education and research institutions of Ukraine, as well as civil society leaders) will be selected through a competitive process and offered an intensive programme, within which they will:
- review in detail topical issues of international law, the ideas and concepts underlying international law, the processes of adapting Ukrainian law to the EU acquis, law enforcement practice, as well as the challenges in these areas;
- acquire professional skills in negotiation tactics, legal argumentation, and translation.
The best graduates may be selected for internships at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
The competition is open to applicants from both law and related fields in the humanities, including international relations, political science, philosophy, sociology, and others. The deadline for application is 24 April 2026, by 23:59 Kyiv time.
A detailed description of the conditions of participation and selection criteria is provided in the attachment available in Ukrainian.
Enquiries for additional information on the application process should be addressed to Summer Academy Organizing Committee: ilacademyukraine@gmail.com
Note! Due to the ongoing war and the related security situation, the dates mentioned above are preliminary. The OSCE Support Programme for Ukraine reserves the right to postpone the Summer Academy to a later date if necessary. In such a case, all selected participants will be informed of any changes in advance.
