On 7-8 November 2005, the OSCE Special Representative on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Helga Konrad, is hosting a high-level conference on Human Trafficking for Labour Exploitation and Forced and Bonded Labour: Identification - Prevention - Prosecution.
Addressing the problematic and complex phenomenon of trafficking for labour exploitation for the first time in the framework of the OSCE and the Alliance Against Trafficking in Persons, this conference aims to both contribute to the initiation of a serious debate and exploring ways for effectively addressing this issue.
The conference will bring together leading anti-trafficking government representatives, national co-ordinators and experts, as well as representatives of renowned international organisations and NGOs from all the OSCE participating States and Partners for Co-operation, in order to discuss and enhance the implementation of effective measures in the fight against trafficking for labour exploitation and forced and bonded labour.
It will address practical issues related to identification of the problem, assistance to and protection of victims of this crime, and prosecution of traffickers and their accomplices. Participants will also be invited to share their experiences of the situation in their countries and information on related activities.
The conference will be both informative and practical, and will feature plenary sessions as well as workshops.
Please note that the deadline for registration has now been extended until Thursday 3 November 2005 (please see the registration form on the right).
