Official 5+2 talks on Transdniestrian settlement start in Dublin
Official negotiations on the Transdniestrian settlement began in Dublin on 28 February 2012. The two-day meeting brings together representatives of the sides, mediators and observers in the negotiations - Moldova, Transdniestria, the OSCE, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the US and the EU.
The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Irish Deputy Prime Minister Eamon Gilmore, opened the meeting, which is being chaired by Ambassador Erwan Fouéré, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transdniestrian settlement process.
Participants will discuss the principles and procedures for the content of negotiations, as well as a number of specific issues and the timetable of future meetings. This is the second official meeting in the 5+2 format following a nearly six-year hiatus.
