OSCE Chairperson extends condolences, voices solidarity with Japan

VIENNA, 11 March 2011 – The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Ažubalis, expressed his solidarity and sympathy with the people of Japan today.
“I was shocked at the news of the massive earthquake and the subsequent tsunami which struck north-east Japan today, resulting in hundreds of people killed, many injured, and causing major material damage,” Ažubalis said.
“I extend my deepest condolences to those who have been affected by the terrible natural disaster, and offer my sympathies to the Japanese people and the Government. The victims, their families and the people of Japan are in our thoughts.”
Japan has been an Asian Partner for Co-operation of the OSCE since 1992.
