OSCE Chairman-in-Office to visit Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan

LJUBLJANA, 14 February 2005 - The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, will this week visit the Central Asian states of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
In the Kazakh capital Astana tomorrow morning, Minister Rupel will meet Deputy Foreign Minister Askar Shakirov, as well as the Speakers of the Majilis and the Senate (lower and upper houses of parliament).
On Wednesday, 16 February, in Tashkent, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office will meet the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, Foreign Minister Elyer Ganiyev and the Speakers of both houses of parliament.
Foreign Minister Rupel will also hold meetings with representatives of NGOs and political parties in both countries.
