The Office assists Azerbaijan’s government and local authorities with some of the most pressing environmental challenges it faces, including water management, prevention of land erosion, and preparedness for a potential oil spill in the Caspian Sea. To this end, the Office provides methodological assistance to community-based river basin management councils, delivers expert feedback on governmental and corporate oil spill preparedness plans, and trains farmers on preventing land erosion. The Office promotes the involvement of all stakeholders on these issues, including the government, local communities, civil society, and the private sector.
