The OSCE Office support workshop on biodiversity
A four-day training workshop on biodiversity conservation started in Baku on 22 May 2013.
The workshop includes theoretical section and a field visit. During the theoretical session, local and international experts will discuss the basic principles of biodiversity conservation and examine ecosystem services and conservation tools and trends. They will also make presentations on new teaching aid and curriculum development. During the two-day field visit, participants will be able to explore practical aspects of the ecosystem preservation. In particular, the international expert will demonstrate monitoring methods of plants and animals. In addition, the participants will examine the impact of human activity on distribution of habitats.
Participants of the training workshop include academic staff of the Baku State University, Lankaran State University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and other institutions of higher education.
The OSCE Office in Baku organized this event in co-operation with the German International Cooperation (GIZ) and ‘EkoSfera’ Ecological Centre, a local NGO. It is part of the Environment and Security Initiative (ENVSEC) in the South Caucasus
