OSCE supports launch of Armenia’s Information Disputes Council’s website, publication
The official website of the Information Disputes Council (IDC), an extra-judicial body publishing opinions or statements on and offering out-of-court solutions to freedom of expression related disputes, as well as a publication comprising IDC opinions were presented on 17 December 2012 in Yerevan.
The website and publication were developed by the Freedom of Information Centre with the support of the OSCE Office in Yerevan as part of a project funded by the US Government.
The website www.idcarmenia.am aims to serve not only as a tool for presenting IDC activities and opinions, but also as a useful and comprehensive source of legislation as well as local and international court practices on free expression and information.
The bilingual (English and Armenian) publication comprises 19 opinions that the IDC has published since its establishment in 2011 through October 2012. The opinions are presented by category, including definitions of defamation and insult, public interest, political figures, facts and value judgments, sources of information, hate speech and journalistic ethics.
The publication is intended to be a useful reference for judges, media representatives, lawyers and other interested stakeholders.
