OSCE Office helps train staff of Armenian Parliament
YEREVAN, 28 June 2005 - Twenty-five members of the Standing Committees of the Armenian Parliament were yesterday awarded certificates after finishing a four-week training programme organized by the OSCE Office in Yerevan.
Staff members of the committees on Finance, Loan and Budgeting Issues, on Education, Science and Youth Affairs and on Social, Environmental and Health issues, as well as selected staff members of parliamentary departments on Legal Analysis and Drafting and on Social Policy Research took part in the course, conducted by international and domestic experts.
"The main objective of this training programme, organized by our Office for the second year, was to increase the professional capacities of the parliamentary staff in the Standing Committees," said Ambassador Vladimir Pryakhin, Head of the OSCE Office.
"We are convinced that the professional growth of the staff is the best contribution to the future of the Parliament and our Office is ready to continue co-operation with the National Assembly in this respect."
The Office also plans to organize a study visit for selected participants to a parliament of another OSCE participating state, outside the region, to learn about their experience.
