KYIV, 5 March 2002 - The OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, together with representatives from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and the International Society for Human Rights (Ukrainian section), recently hosted a seminar meant to support Ukrainian authorities implementing structural reforms in the military sphere.

This seminar, which was held on 18-19 February in Kamianets'-Podil's'kyi, is part of a Ukrainian military reform project focused on the rights of military personnel.

The seminar focused on codes of conduct, international standards and local legislation regarding the rights of military personnel. Practicing lawyers and legal experts working in these areas gave lectures to the service personnel at the Kamienets'-Podil's'kyi garrison on these topics.

During its anticipated lifespan, the project will cover all military garrisons in Ukraine, with the next seminars scheduled for 14-15 March 2002 in Sevastopol, and 18-19 March 2002 in Odessa.
