The Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, with the support of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine (PCU) and the Council of Europe (CoE), hosted a roundtable discussion on interaction between the Secretariat of the Government Agent for the European Court on Human Rights (ECtHR) and leading Law schools of Ukraine. The main focus of discussion was execution of ECtHR judgments.
Representatives of the Government Agent and the CoE’s Committee of Ministers introduced mechanisms of co-ordination in execution of ECtHR’s rulings. The PCU shared its work on improving the content of legal disciplines, particularly on introduction of the European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the ECtHR into the law curriculum. Leading law schools shared their experience in teaching the European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the ECtHR.
All participants emphasized the importance of setting-up an inter-university platform for sustainable co-operation between universities and the Government Agent to have an effective information exchange about the latest tendencies of ECtHR judgments and their execution.
The round table was organized within the “Safeguarding Human Rights through Courts” Project, implemented with financial support of the Government of Canada.
