OSCE Secretary General commends Mission in Kosovo for providing election support in Sunday polls

VIENNA, 10 June 2014 – OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier congratulated the Mission in Kosovo on a successful support operation to the early Assembly elections in northern Kosovo on 8 June.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the Head of Mission, Ambassador Schlumberger as well as his able staff for making the recent election exercise a success and commend their professional work and commitment demonstrated throughout the whole process.”

“This support operation was another OSCE contribution to the peaceful and orderly election process and, more broadly, to the normalization of relations in this part of the region,” he said.

“I hope the Belgrade-Prishtinë/Priština dialogue will resume soon. The OSCE stands ready to engage in support of this important EU-led process and its implementation.”

Zannier also thanked Kosovo Police, EULEX and KFOR for ensuring a safe and secure environment during the polls as well as other OSCE field operations in the region who seconded their staff to support the Mission in Kosovo operation on election day.
