The OSCE is organizing a Meeting of the OSCE Networks for Women Professionals on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalization that Lead to Terrorism (P/CVERLT) in Central Asia and South-Eastern Europe to be held on 18-20 October 2023 in Vienna, Austria.
Background: In February 2023, the OSCE Secretariat Gender Issues Programme’s “WIN for Women and Men: Strengthening Comprehensive Security through Innovating and Networking for Gender Equality” (WIN) project, in co-operation with the OSCE Secretariat Transnational Threats Department’s Action against Terrorism Unit, established two regional networks for women professionals in P/CVERLT in Central Asia and South-Eastern Europe.
These networks have been meeting online on a monthly basis, exchanging on a range of issues around P/CVERLT. The meeting in October 2023 will be the first in-person meeting of both networks and will pave the road for their way forward.
Objectives of the event: The overall aim of the event is to strengthen the two networks, evaluate the activities completed thus far and jointly decide on the next steps. More specifically the event will:
- contribute to establishing relevant contacts among women professionals in P/CVERLT regionally and cross-regionally;
- enable exchange and sharing of lessons learned among network members;
- provide thematic food for thought on pertinent and current issues in P/CVERLT;
- facilitate drafting work plans for each of the two networks.
