VIENNA, 2 April 2001 - Individuals who are interested in working for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe can now find listings of current vacancies and apply online through the new OSCE Employment web site.
OSCE employees generally work on fixed-term contracts or are seconded by one of the 55 OSCE participating States. Applications for fixed-term contract positions are sent directly to the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna. Applications for seconded positions are sent directly to the applicant's national government contact point, where they are screened prior to being submitted for nomination to a vacant OSCE post.
The new website also includes information on how to be considered for inclusion among the new OSCE Rapid Expert Assistance and Co-operation Teams (REACT). This programme aims to create a roster of highly skilled people in defined areas of expertise who would be available for deployment within two, four or six weeks after receiving a notification of assignment.
The OSCE operates more than 20 field operations in South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia. People who work for the OSCE must be national of one of the 55 OSCE participating States.
Information on employment opportunities within the OSCE, as well as a list of current vacancies can be found on the OSCE website: http:///www.osce.org/employment
