OSCE White Ribbon Award recognizes efforts of four ambassadors and two military attaches in promoting gender equality

Four ambassadors and two military attaches representing their countries in the OSCE are the winners of the fourth White Ribbon Award in recognition of their personal commitment and achievements in promoting gender equality. The award ceremony was held on 30 November 2017, at the Hofburg in Vienna.
OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger presented Ambassador Natasha Cayer of Canada; Lieutenant Colonel Kim Willum Hansen Guldbech of Denmark; Ambassador Steffen Kongstad of Norway; Colonel Robert Kordik of Serbia; Ambassador Rauf Engin Soysal of Turkey and Ambassador Sian MacLeod of the United Kingdom with white ribbons awards.
“It has become a really good tradition to acknowledge contributions and achievements of the permanent missions of OSCE and to encourage those in the Organization who have challenged existing inequalities experienced by women in daily lives,” said OSCE Senior Adviser on Gender Issues Amarsanaa Darisuren.
The event was part of the OSCE’s campaign in support of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence that was launched on 25 November and runs until the International Human Rights Day on 10 December 2017.
