About

International IDEA, GPPAC, UNU-CRIS, the OAS and OSCE will host the International Conference on Strengthening Peace and Security Cooperation towards Democracy and Development.

This conference will bring together senior representatives from Regional Organisations, the United Nations, independent experts from the academia and representatives of civil society organisations to analyse existing mechanisms of interaction and formulate recommendations on how to enhance co-operation among different actors to improve conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts.

The conference seeks to contribute to the global peacebuilding architecture by strengthening the linkages between local, regional, and global levels of engagement. It follows up on the First International Conference on Strengthening Global Peace and Security for Development: The Role of Regional Inter-Governmental Organisations and Civil Society, held in Madrid, Spain, in November 2011.
