Outcomes of the project "Enabling Transboundary Co-operation and Integrated Water Resources Management in the Dniester River Basin" funded by the Global Environment Facility, will be presented at the event. The presented results will shape the basis of the national Dniester river basin management plans –the key strategic documents for Ukraine and Moldova to ensure sustainable development of the countries’ water sector.
The studies implemented within the project, helped to identify the key issues of the Dniester river basin, including the pollution by organic, biogenic, hazardous substances, plastic and other household waste, the spread of invasive species, as well as climate change, floods and droughts. All these issues have an impact on the economic, social and environmental performance of both countries.
During the event, the following aspects will be covered:
- critical issues of the river basin;
- the Strategic Action Program that outlines 74 measures aiming to significantly improve the state of the Dniester Basin over the next 15 years;
- updated format of the transboundary management of the Dniester river basin;
- the demonstration project on a small river restoration.

- Valentyna Tapis, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment of the Republic of Moldova,
