As the Law “On Mine Action in Ukraine” came into force on 25 January 2019, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator is organising an event that will enable the representatives of local authorities in conflict-affected communities of Luhansk Oblast to learn details of new legal framework, voice their concerns and needs arising from contamination of lands by explosive remnants of war, as well as directly discuss new regional opportunities of co-operations with the government officials and representatives of international organizations authorized to carry out mine action activities.
The round table is to gather officials from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Temporary Occupied Territories and IDPs of Ukraine, regional, district, municipal, community administrations, representatives of the UNDP, HALO Trust, DDG, FSD, ICRC, civil society and business.
This effort is part of the project “Building Ukrainian Humanitarian Mine Action Capacity”, implemented by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada, Federal Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of Norway, the United States Mission to the OSCE, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
