OSCE PA President condemns terrorist attack in Volgograd

COPENHAGEN, 29 December 2013 – OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Ranko Krivokapic today issued the following statement on the apparent suicide bombing in Volgograd's main train station that killed at least 15 people and wounded many more:

"On behalf of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, I condemn in the strongest terms this despicable act of cowardice and inhumanity. I offer my deepest condolences to the families of the victims, many of whom were traveling to visit loved ones for the New Year celebration. We stand with the Russian Federation as it investigates and begins to recover from this heinous crime. The Parliamentary Assembly has been resolute in its will to tackle terrorism and extremism. Let us redouble those efforts, work to boost cooperation to counter terror, and be especially vigilant as the 2014 Olympic Games approach. That will be the most fitting tribute to the victims of this abhorrent attack."
