The collective efforts and expertise of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) and the OSCE will contribute to enhanced prosperity, stability and security, BSEC Secretary General Ambassador Victor Tvircun told the OSCE Permanent Council – the Organization’s key decision making body - in Vienna on 14 February 2013.

Ukraine’s present chairmanship of both organizations was “inspired by the same vision, the same drive, the same plan, to transform our region into one of peace, stability and prosperity”, said Tvircun, noting the OSCE Chairmanship’s emphasis on issues of economy, environment, trade and transport corridors.

He told the OSCE participating States that priority areas for the BSEC included maximizing economic potential, increasing commerce, promoting investment, protecting the environment, acting on migrant management and combating human trafficking.

“We are confident that our joint efforts and particular expertise will help enhance prosperity and consolidate stability and security in the region, in the common interest of the Black Sea area, the Eurasian region and the international community,” he said.

BSEC is a regional organization set up in 1992 that brings together eleven countries.
