OSCE Project Co-ordinator supports improvement of citizen-state relations in Ukraine

A training seminar on citizen-state relations for representatives of civil society organizations opened on 21 November 2011 in Boryspil, Ukraine.

The event is jointly organized by the State Registration Service of Ukraine, Kyiv Regional State Administration and Boryspil City Council with support provided by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine (PCU).

Some 65 representatives of civil society organizations and members of public advisory councils at executive authorities and local self-governance bodies from the Kyiv region will discuss citizen-state interaction with respect to non-governmental and charity organizations, improving registration practices at justice departments and legal instruments to influence the formulation and implementation of state public policy.

The training forms part of an OSCE PCU project aimed at raising the awareness of the public about human rights and mechanisms for their protection, and strengthening the capacity of Ukrainian public servants to better protect the rights of persons in their relations with the state.

Overall, in 2010 and 2011 the OSCE PCU has helped to train more than 150 representatives of civil society organizations and 400 public servants – mainly Ministry of Justice specialists - with the purpose of improving citizen-state relations.
