Russian Federation hands back Skrunda radar station to Latvia

In June 1994, Latvia and the Russian Federation requested that the CSCECSCE
Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe provide assistance in the implementation of the Agreement on the Legal Status of the Skrunda Radar Station during its Temporary Operation and Dismantling, which took effect on 1 September 1994.

The team conducted inspections of the radar site twice a year. Under the terms of the Agreement, the station's dismantling was to be completed not later than 29 February 2000. During the five years since the Agreement took effect, the dismantling work proceeded without problems and was concluded well ahead of time.
