Montreal hosted a five-day CSCE Seminar of Experts on Sustainable Development of Boreal and Temperate Forests from 27 September to 1 October.
Representatives from numerous international and non-governmental organizations, as well as the OSCE and its participating States, attended the meeting, which addressed environmental problems these regions face.
The main goal was to:
- provide a high-level technical forum for advancing discussions on sustainable forestry
- promote an exchange on measurable criteria and indicators for evaluating progress in efforts to achieve sustainable forestry
- examine the state of data collection and monitoring activities in relation to the criteria and indicators identified
