The two-day seminar on Exploring the Potential for Collaboration by the CSCE and NGOs in Preventive Diplomacy offered an opportunity for informal discussions to develop dialogue and strengthen links between NGOs active in conflict prevention and the CSCE.
Proposals were submitted for discussion on such areas as:
- better exchange of information
- use of NGOs in research and providing background information and analysis
- meetings on a regular bases
- support from NGOs in training Mission members
Some CSCE participating States called for better co-ordination among NGOs, while the latter requested the appointment of NGO-liaison officers who would be able to contact relevant CSCE institutions.
