NEW YORK, 22 September 2004 - The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy, discussed a range of OSCE issues with the Foreign Minister of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Ilinka Mitreva, in New York on Wednesday.

Minister Mitreva expressed hope that the OSCE would respond positively to her country's invitation to send observers to monitor the 7 November referendum on a law on decentralisation.

The Chairman-in-Office welcomed the invitation and said he would encourage the OSCE's election-monitoring body, the Warsaw-based Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), to comply with the request to send observers.
