About
“[The] link between security in the OSCE area and security in the Mediterranean region has become all the more relevant, as has our co-operation with our Mediterranean Partners, given the growing range of challenges and opportunities stemming from the Mediterranean region and beyond. We therefore call for Mediterranean-related issues to be clearly reflected throughout the relevant work of the OSCE across the three dimensions of comprehensive security, and for greater engagement in advancing a common approach in tackling the related challenges, many of which are transnational and cross-dimensional in nature, and in seizing emerging opportunities, in a spirit of genuine partnership, co-operation, and ownership.”
2018 Milan Ministerial Council, Declaration on Security and Co-operation in the Mediterranean.
The 2022 OSCE Mediterranean Conference will take place in Jordan on 24-25 October on the subject: “Advancing security and co-operation in the Mediterranean: fostering dialogue with the OSCE Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation”. Since its inception, the OSCE has attached great importance to security aspects in the Mediterranean region. North Macedonia, holding the Chairmanship of the 2022 OSCE Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation Group, looks forward to fostering dialogue with the OSCE Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation on a number of key topics. The event shall start with a high-level political segment devoted to the role of youth. Thematic sessions shall then tackle: challenges caused by climate change, the trafficking of human beings, and women’s economic empowerment. A closing remarks session will conclude the event.
