The attacks in Paris on 13 November 2015 sent shockwaves around the world, leading to an outpouring of grief for the victims of terrorism and strong condemnation of the perpetrators. At least 129 people died in the indiscriminate attacks on bars and restaurants, a concert hall and the Stade de France.

The OSCE joined world leaders and other international organizations in swiftly denouncing the attacks. OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Serbia’s Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić assured France that “all OSCE participating states stand by you at this hour, sharing the belief that no political cause can ever justify such heinous acts.”

OSCE United in Countering Violent Extremism

To underscore that we at the OSCE stand together as one in countering violent extremism that leads to terrorism, the OSCE Secretary General and the OSCE Serbian Chairmanship launched the campaign “OSCE United in Countering Violent Extremism (#UnitedCVE)” earlier this year.
The campaign emphasizes the need for us all to rise to the challenge of responding to the corrosive appeal of violent extremism by promoting tolerance, mutual respect, pluralism, inclusion, and cohesion.
