Global security, climate change, and the link between religion, development and security are just some of the issues OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier will address at the World Economic Forum’s 2015 Annual Meeting in Davos.

The World Economic Forum provides global leaders from business, government, international organizations, academia and civil society with a platform for debate and strategic dialogue on the key transformations reshaping the world today.

The need to rethink long-held assumptions about the global order has become crystal clear in today’s increasingly complex, fragile and uncertain world. In the past year alone, the crisis in and around Ukraine and the growing threat from radicalization that leads to terrorism have revealed deep political and societal divisions between and within countries and regions.

With its comprehensive approach to security, the OSCE has much to offer world leaders as they gather in Switzerland.  The OSCE is the largest regional security arrangement in the world and its work encompasses the political-military, economic and environmental, and human dimensions of security.

The OSCE’s response to the situation in Ukraine has demonstrated its role in the European security landscape as an effective platform for promoting dialogue and facilitating co-operative solutions. Through its Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, its role in the Trilateral Contact Group as well as its efforts to promote national dialogue and effective reforms in Ukraine, the OSCE is working to defuse tensions and restore peace and stability in Ukraine and the wider region.
