More than 100 experts, non-governmental activists and governmental officials gathered to exchange views on how to improve practical participation of civil society in governance, at an OSCE-supported international conference in village of Guta near Ivano-Frankivsk in western Ukraine, on 27 September 2013.
OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine (PCU) and State Registration Service of Ukraine organized the two-day event. Guest speakers from United Kingdom, Netherlands, Georgia and the Russian Federation, will present their experiences and success stories on building co-operation between the government and NGOs in their states.
The conference participants will discuss the implementation of recently adopted Law on Public Associations in Ukraine and other legal norms and instruments regulating registration and functioning of civil society organizations. The conference conclusions will be used for preparing the commentary to the law on registration procedure for civil society organizations, as well as for making recommendations on improvement of the state registry of those organizations in the country.
Representatives of Ukrainian civil society organizations and state authorities will closely work together within the OSCE project to develop together the commentary note and recommendations.
This event is a part of the project on supporting government bodies and civil society organizations in Ukraine in implementing the Law on Public Associations. The OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine implements this initiative together with Ukraine’s State Registration Service and in co-ordination with the Justice Ministry and the country’s Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights.
