Ukraine

Ukraine has been an OSCE participating State since 1992, following its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The country held the OSCE Chairpersonship in 2015 and hosted the OSCE Mission to Ukraine between 1994 and 1999, the Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine between 1999 and 2022, the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine between 2014 and 2022, and the Observer Mission at the Russian Checkpoints Gukovo and Donetsk between 2014 and 2021. Ukraine is represented by a Permanent Delegation to the OSCE and to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

Every year, the political leadership of the OSCE rotates among the Organization's participating States. The country taking over the OSCE Chair co-ordinates activities and provides political direction throughout that year.
