About
The fourth meeting of the Heads of Verification Centres will address the practical implementation of the Vienna Document 1999, the main confidence- and security- building tool of the OSCE.
The Vienna Document obliges all 56 participating States, inter alia, to an annual exchange of military information and the hosting of evaluation and inspection visits on their territory.
In the past years, participating States have conducted around 150 such visits annually. This work is mainly carried out by national verification agencies, whose representatives gather in Vienna on 13 December to exchange views on lessons-learned and ways to improve the implementation of the document.
