The three-day seminar aims to promote full implementation of commitments stemming from the OSCE Code of Conduct on Politico-Military Aspects of Security in the Central Asian countries.
It is focused on fostering dialogue and co-operation between relevant ministries, parliamentarians and senior military personnel involved in the oversight of armed forces. Experts will share practical experiences, discuss current issues and future initiatives, and look closely at national practices on democratic control of:
- military
- paramilitary
- internal security forces
- intelligence services and
- the police.
The seminar will also look at issues relating to the effective guidance of armed forces and their accountability to constitutionally established authorities.
