About
The Fifth Inter-Regional Conference on Cyber/ICT Security, “The AI-Cyberspace Nexus: Promise, Peril and the Next Generation,” will take place on 10 November 2026 in Vienna, Austria.
The conference is organized by the Republic of Korea in close co-operation with the External Co-operation Section at the OSCE Secretariat’s Office of the Secretary General. It will bring together representatives of the OSCE participating States, Asian and Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation, international and regional organizations, and experts from government, academia and the private sector.
Participants will examine the opportunities and risks that artificial intelligence presents for cyber/ICT security, focusing on strengthening cyber defence and resilience, countering AI-enabled cybercrime, crime and terrorism, as well as addressing the implications of emerging technologies for young people, education and digital trust. Discussions will also explore capacity-building, the widening interstate cyber-capability gap, law-enforcement challenges and the importance of digital literacy.
This initiative aims to foster structured dialogue, exchange best practices and identify practical ways to strengthen co-operation between the OSCE area and its Asian Partners for Co-operation.
The event is part of the inter-regional conference series initiated by the Republic of Korea in 2017, following OSCE Ministerial Declaration MC.DOC/2/20, which encourages Asian Partners for Co-operation to make use of existing OSCE mechanisms, including the Partnership Fund, to support Partner-led initiatives in the three dimensions.
