This meeting of regional stakeholders for Central and Eastern Europe was an important first step. It brought together the members of the project's management board as well as relevant government representatives from Central and Eastern European countries.
Its main objectives: generating a better view on the overall level of inter-agency cooperation efforts along Eastern and Central European borders both domestically as well as bilaterally; identifying strengths and weaknesses of current border policies; future initiatives and planned policy reforms; and compiling a list of best practices that can be described and explained in the Handbook.
The stakeholders' meeting was followed by an assessment visit to the Brest/Koroszczyn border crossing between Belarus and Poland.
